#Fail - Oversimplification

Have you ever met someone that has heard of you before meeting you? This is happening to me more and more as my motivational speaking gains momentum, and I’ll never get over this strange phenomena. I’m always extra careful when meeting those people for the first time because I know I’m human, but sometimes they don’t! I’m sure you’ve heard the old saying that says something about how meeting people you admire could often lead to disappointment. I always tread lightly in these situations, and if I feel like I’ve been put on an unattainable pedestal, I’m quick to correct that misconception. It’s easy to make assumptions about those you don’t see on a regular basis. From a distance, everything looks much simpler than it is in reality, especially the lives of The trouble is, we do this almost unintentionally, which makes it difficult to monitor. It takes “ unlearning ” behaviour, which is much more difficult than learning something brand new for the first time, especially for adults....

Happiness

In today’s world, it’s easy to be sad; especially if you’re an empathetic person that reads the paper, listens to the news, and sees the world as harshly and as vulgarly as the media portrays it daily. In today’s world it’s easy to lack confidence in yourself; especially if you’re online and connected to several social media outlets; constantly comparing your everyday life, to the exciting highlights of your seemingly effortlessly attractive, adventurous and worry-free friends. Nonetheless, despite the constant negative influences that are force-fed to us on a regular basis, there are strange people among us, people like mysel f, who manage to find happiness despite the lack of absolute perfection in their lives. I happen to be in a field of work that encourages me to motivate other people. This position has taught me a lot about myself, and about the commonality between absolute strangers. (Ironically distracting side note about  Social Media) : It's a powerful tool that ...

Travel

There’s something strange that happens when you get out of your comfort zone and explore a different country and culture. Travelling is a fantastic way to blow your own mind enough to change your perspective about many things in life.  As you may know, this blog originated as a travel blog. Though my life has changed tremendously since my time in South America, I still enjoy travelling quite a bit. " Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime ."  Mark Twain is a wise man! And that is one of my favorite quotes of all time because I couldn't agree more. If you’ve never felt like an absolute alien in a new environment where people ask you on a regular basis why you choose to do what you do, wear what you wear, and say what you say; then I high...

Return of the Giant

It's been a while, but my return to the world of blogging was inevitable because, if you haven't noticed from my previous posts, I really enjoyed it, however, life has a sneaky way of getting in the way of the things that I enjoy the most sometimes. Take art for example, I used to dedicate every single Sunday to painting, drawing, reading and writing. However getting married, moving into my first home, buying a new car, starting a few new jobs etc. . . Has influenced me to spend my spare time in different ways. Thus, instead of " wasting my time " doing art on Sundays, they were spent doing chores around the house; grocery shopping; planning meals for the week; and ensuring that my magic schedule, that somehow allows me to juggle 3 jobs at once, still made half-sense.  With that small change, I found myself losing a part of myself that I loved. The artist in me was slowly dying, and it wasn't until I started explaining to a friend of mine, WHY I loved writi...
