I remember hearing the word "6 months" during my pre-departure training and feeling a bit scared everytime thinking "wow thats a very long time". Now here I am 6 months later wondering where the time went! I'm wishing I had more time to continue contributing to projects within Puerto Hondo, to keep working with the kids from the environmental club, and simply keep enjoying this beautiful's country's music, food, language and people. But alas, tomorrow is the day I hop on a plane and head back to Canada.
My last month has been a bit crazy because I moved from my apartment, which made internet a rare thing to come by. Today is my official "despedida" Which means official farewell, and is usually associated with a goodbye party.
It will be a sad day full of tears, at least on my end, but I'll be prepared with a full roll of toilet paper. I also plan to hand out goodbye letters that I spent last night writing for the people I've gotten very close to. I plan to spend the first half of my day within Puerto Hondo and I plan to give everyone I know a hug and a kiss goodbye. The second half of my day will be spent at Cerro Blanco, where my fellow employees at Pro Bosque will get the same. The evening will be spent at my favorite Ecuadorian restaurant because I promised the owner I would return one last time, and he promised my food would be on the house so I couldn't refuse.
There are so many stories that have been left untold. So much more has happened here in Ecuador than a weekly blog can capture. I love to write and have been writing almost everyday in my journal, and plan to share even more Ecuadorian adventures with everyone through this blog.
I despise goodbye's! So instead, I always say, "see you later" I will miss everybody, and everything here in Ecuador Terribly. I've already made plans to come back, and I plan to keep that promise.
Stay tuned for the untold stories of Ecuador that I will be posting on a weekly basis for a few weeks.
I will see you very soon Canada!
I hope the Cold doesn't make me jump back on the plane to this beautiful hot Ecuadorian weather!
I'm Just kidding Mother dearest.
